‘Aalen’s Atlas’

Atlas of the Irish Rural Landscape.

Dr. Matthew Stout, Trinity College Dublin.

Dr. Stout will talk about the contribution and vision of the late Fred Aalen for the Atlas of the Irish Rural Landscape – a profoundly important publication on the geography of Ireland, first published in 1997 and revised and updated in 2011. Dr. Stout’s lecture will also examine some of the changes between the two editions.

The lecture is followed by an informal reception.

The Gwenda Hurst Lecture is the AGTI annual commeoration of Gwenda Hurst, the Founder of the AGTI. Each year we present a medal to the student who achieved the highest marks in the Leaving Certificate examinations
