Have your say – Teaching Council looking for teachers’ views on the Draft Framework for Teachers’ Continuing Professional Development <http://www.nabmse.org/2015/06/have-your-say-teaching-council-are-looking-for-stakeholders-views-on-draft-framework-for-teachers-continuous-professional-development/>

Last October, the Council embarked on a consultation process with teachers to learn about their experience of professional learning. The goal was to enhance its understanding of their learning journey so as to better inform a national framework for teachers’ learning.

The first phase of consultation began with a blank slate when the Council sought feedback and ideas from registered teachers. More than 3,300 teachers joined the conversation. The Council has now analysed all of this feedback and developed a first draft of the framework, Cosán.

We are now inviting teachers to provide feedback on the draft framework through attendance at workshops in the coming weeks. Please note the dates and venues for these sessions below.

·        Thursday, 26 November 7-9 p.m.       Limerick Education Centre

·        Monday, 30 November 7-9 p.m.        Drumcondra Education Centre

·        Monday, 30 November 7-9 p.m.        Galway Education Centre

The workshops will be facilitated by teachers who are currently on secondment to the Teaching Council. Participants should register with their preferred education centre directly and will be reimbursed for travel expenses incurred while attending.

Alternatively, schools may wish to discuss the draft framework as part of a staff meeting or other staff activity, or organise cluster meetings with neighbouring schools. The Teaching Council has developed a feedback form for schools, with prompts to aid staff reflection and discussion. It has also established a dedicated email address for feedback, cosan@teachingcouncil.ie

There is also an online feedback form for individual feedback, for those who prefer that option. Further details are available here. <http://www.teachingcouncil.ie/en/Teacher-Education/Continuing-Professional-Development/>
